casa cielo y tierra
This blog will be a series of entries of our daily life at "Cielo y Tierra" and of our family and friends that come and share our small corner of "heaven" here in El Salvador. A Chinese poet many centuries ago noticed that to re-create something in words is like being alive twice. Hopefully, we can achieve that with this journal. Enjoy!!

BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME!
January was a month filled with the warmth of friends and family! We had visitors from Mexico City, Puerto Vallarta, New York and Dallas. We rented a large van and we toured the countryside and experienced the sights and sounds of El Salvador. As an added treat, the Volcan of Santa Ana was spewing ash...so we were able to admire the majesty and the power of volcanoes. At night, it seemed like we were always having a giant slumber party!!
January is the beginning of coffee picking season and we have started just that at "Cielo y Tierra." Due to the length and intensity of the rainy season (including Hurricane Stan), this year's crop will not be as plentiful as last years'. But, we are busy picking, shelling and drying the coffee. The coffee casing (the pulp that surrounds the coffee) we use as compost. As you can see, I have become the Martha Stewart of El Salvador!!
We would love to see you in our "neck of the woods" real soon!! Make your reservations early, some months are filling out fast.
